Having clean water in rural communities is crucial as it is the base of all medicinal remedies. In Muedimel, with many individuals unable to afford over-the-counter medicine, at-home remedies are the only solution for sicknesses ranging from fever to malaria.

Calista waits as her jansang beans dry in the sun after washing them in water. Having clean water is key to food preparation and keeping harmful bacteria at bay.

On Friday, pipes were being transported to Lokando, but had to be dropped off miles away from the village because the delivery truck could not handle the difficult terrain of the roads.

Much to our surprise, men, women, and youth left Lokando Saturday morning to walk miles to carry the pipes back to their village one by one. We’re lucky to be working side by side with such inspiring communities. (at Lokando II, Cameroon)

This World Water Day, we want to not only promote clean water for all, but to make that water life-lasting.

Our infographic on water sustainability highlights water project failures in the past 20 years and how we can prevent failure in the future. Providing true access to clean water not only lies in the hardware to deliver it, but the software to keep clean water running. 

Happy March! We’re all smiles this month as we approach World Water Day on March 22nd.

With a large family and a small pig farm, Leanne has a demanding daily schedule. She wakes up at 5 in the morning to take care of her 7 children and to feed her pigs. On top of cooking, cleaning, and farming, Leanne travels to collect all of the drinking water for her family and takes the extra step of boiling it. 

The Communication Officer of Lokando delivers messages between clans so that everyone is updated on current water-related issues and developments in the area.
