Cocoa is an important crop in Cameroon, accounting for 42% of the country’s GDP. This year, with climate change and poor quality inputs such as dirty water, trading prices dropped by 19%. Unsafe water not only affects an individual’s well being, but also hinders a country’s progress towards economic growth.

An exciting update from our partners at the Peace Corps this morning! The catchment for our 5 village water system in Southwest Cameroon has been constructed, and we have begun connecting pipes that will bring clean water to these villages.

This DIY stream catchment catches drinking water that is polluted by animals and farming chemicals. This water leaves many people with diseases like cholera, typhoid, and diarrhea, and threatens the lives of young children.
