Njume’s five children used to constantly fight off water-related skin diseases and illnesses, both requiring medicine that their father could not afford. In Africa alone, unclean water creates economic losses as high as $28.4 billion.
With clean water, Njume’s life is drastically different with a healthier family. Njume excitedly exclaims, “A healthy family is a rich family!”.

Sarah’s son watches patiently while his mother crushes paw paw leaves, limes, and clean water in a bowl to concoct a remedy for her malaria. With a clean water tap outside Sarah’s house, she is able to make effective homemade remedies for herself and her family.

Miriam leaves out a container to catch rainwater for drinking, cooking, and bathing. When it rains, villagers take every opportunity to catch rainwater and reduce the multiple trips needed to gather water from faraway sources.

Ewang John waits while his brother and mother go looking for water. During the dry season, many of the nearby dirty streams dry up, causing women and children to go on a search for water that may last up to 8 hours.
