Having clean water in rural communities is crucial as it is the base of all medicinal remedies. In Muedimel, with many individuals unable to afford over-the-counter medicine, at-home remedies are the only solution for sicknesses ranging from fever to malaria.

Pig farming can be very lucrative for farmers during the dry season. Our economy workshops empower farmers with the necessary skills to build their own small scale enterprises.

Smile, it’s Friday!

Mrs Nkwelle Marie leads a group of 16 women and is dedicated to empowering and advancing the women in her village. Despite living in a remote area with impassable roads, Mrs. Marie was able to secure cassava processing machines to boost crop quality and the selling power of women farmers. Her ambitious is endless, with plans to open a health center with strong maternity care, and to bring clean water to her village.

Happy March! We’re all smiles this month as we approach World Water Day on March 22nd.

With a large family and a small pig farm, Leanne has a demanding daily schedule. She wakes up at 5 in the morning to take care of her 7 children and to feed her pigs. On top of cooking, cleaning, and farming, Leanne travels to collect all of the drinking water for her family and takes the extra step of boiling it. 

The Communication Officer of Lokando delivers messages between clans so that everyone is updated on current water-related issues and developments in the area.
